Mr. Tlotlego Maloka is an Airport Pavement Specialist with 14 years’ experience in both the military and the civil aviation space (airports). Tlotlego graduated from the University of South Africa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (urban and transportation) and has a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (with research interests in, airport pavements management systems (PMS) and drone technology) with the Tshwane University of Technology. He is currently completing his Doctoral studies in civil engineering with a focus on airport pavement maintenance optimisation (also with the Tshwane University of Technology). He has worked as a Project Management Officer for military roads and airfield pavements for the South African Air force and is currently employed by the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) as a Specialist: Airport Civil Infrastructure, a role that is mainly responsible for safety oversight in terms of PMS on all licensed civilian airports within the borders of South Africa. His interest has lately shifted to the use of drone technology and the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in the civil engineering environment, mainly in the airport environment, which is highly regulated.
