Dr G Kavitha is currently Professor and Head of RASTA, Center for Road Technology, Volvo CE Campus, Bangalore, India. She has an overall experience of 23 years which includes Teaching, Training and Research in the areas of Highway/ pavements and Transportation Engineering.
After a brief stint in the industry, she started her career in teaching and eventually developed interest in Research and training. Her Profile includes teaching and training students of Highway Technology in the subjects of Highway Materials, Pavement Design and Construction, Traffic Engineering & Transportation planning. She has been guiding innovative academic research projects in various areas of Highway Engineering, Urban transportation and Transport planning for the post-graduation students of Highway Technology and research scholars pursuing doctoral programs. She has guided more than 50 PG Students. As principal investigator she is actively engaged in various research projects funded by the State / Central Govt and Construction Industry. So far, she has successfully completed sponsored research projects of value more than 100 lakhs. She has authored many technical papers in journals and conferences. She has received best paper award from Indian Roads congress (IRC) for a paper presented and published in the annual session of IRC. She has organised various training programs / workshops / Conferences in Road and Infrastructure related topics for participants including students, faculty, practicing engineers from the Govt departments and Engineers from the Industry. She has been a resource person for delivering lectures in the highway and transportation Engineering domain. She is also a life member of several professional bodies
