Edith Wong is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Florida. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from Florida State University in 2014 and her Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MSCE) from the University of Florida in 2016. During her studies at the University of Florida, she interned with the State Materials Office, focusing on bituminous materials.
After graduation, Edith worked at a structural design firm in Tampa before joining the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in 2017 as part of the Professional Engineer (PE) Trainee Program. She subsequently served as the Traffic Safety Studies Engineer in FDOT District 7’s Traffic Safety Office. Currently, she is the TSM&O Arterials Engineer in the Traffic Operations Office, where she manages various responsibilities, including conducting safety studies, overseeing Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O) projects, coordinating with research teams, leading a work zone safety research project, addressing citizen concerns, and developing safety and traffic operations initiatives.
Edith served as the project manager for the FDOT initiative titled “Prioritized Safety Considerations by Work Zone Types and Pilot Implementation,” which received the 2021 National Roadway Safety Award for Arterial Work Zone Safety. She proudly represented FDOT in accepting this prestigious award, earning national recognition for her contributions to roadway safety.
