I’m a graduate student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Howard University with over three years of experience as a civil engineer. This background gives me practical insights that I’m now applying to my research. Right now, I’m focusing on using machine learning for Structural Health Monitoring, essentially finding better ways to assess and maintain infrastructure to keep it safe and lasting.
In my research, I’m exploring how machine learning can improve the accuracy and efficiency of these assessments, making it easier to identify issues before they become problems. I’m also working with Dr. Claudia Marin on a paper about using video and signal processing to monitor transportation infrastructure. This project has taught me a lot about the future potential of monitoring technologies and how they can make a big difference in keeping structures safe and well-maintained.
