Suraj Gupta is a PhD student in Transportation Systems Engineering at the Civil Engineering Department of IIT Bombay, specializing in the study of driving behavior. His research focuses on understanding how various factors influence driving patterns, aiming to enhance road safety and traffic efficiency. He completed his M.Tech in Transportation Engineering from IIT Roorkee, where his research examined how geometric road features affect speed and acceleration behavior at intersections, considering variables like vehicle type, traffic volume, and driver demographics. During his time at IIT Roorkee, he also volunteered for TIPCE 2022, managing event logistics and hospitality for delegates.
Suraj holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from NIT Raipur, where he actively contributed to student associations, organized industrial visits, and led cultural and educational initiatives. His academic projects included studies on wind load impact on structures and the design of G+6 buildings using advanced software tools. He gained practical experience through internships with organizations such as South East Central Railway and Naya Raipur Development Authority, where he worked on projects related to infrastructure development, metro rail construction, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, Suraj worked as a Graduate Engineer Trainee at Larsen & Toubro, contributing to the execution, planning, and safety aspects of major urban infrastructure projects in Delhi. His technical skills include proficiency in AutoCAD, Staad Pro, MATLAB, R, Python, and various transportation modeling tools, complemented by a keen interest in data management and statistics.
