Brian Park is a Professor in the Civil & Environmental Engineering and Systems & Information Engineering Departments and a member of Link Lab at the University of Virginia. He received a B.S. and an M.S. from Hanyang University, Seoul, Korea, and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University, USA.
His research mainly develops and implements technology solutions to improve the efficiency and safety of surface transportation systems. Dr. Park has published about 180 journal and conference papers in the areas of transportation system operations and management and intelligent transportation systems. He has been recognized with distinguished awards, including the 2014 George N. Saridis Best Transactions Paper Award for Outstanding Research, the Jack H. Dillard Outstanding Paper, and the Charley V. Wootan Award (for best Ph.D. dissertation) from the Council of University Transportation Centers. He currently serves as Associate Editor of the American Society of Civil Engineers Journal of Transportation Engineering, the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems, and the KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering, and an editorial board member of the International Journal of Sustainable Transportation.
