Dr. Ilker Boz has fifteen years of research experience in the areas of bituminous materials characterization and advanced testing; recycled materials and systems; pavement design and analysis; non-destructive testing; pavement instrumentation; pavement preservation; pavement surface characteristics; and specification development and implementation. He has served as a PI, co-PI, and researcher on numerous projects for NCHRP, FHWA, state DOTs, local government, and private industry with funds exceeding $10.0 million. Dr. Boz has more than 90 articles published in journals, fully refereed conference proceedings, reports, and technical memorandums. He is a leading researcher for Virginia DOT’s multimillion-dollar effort to incorporate performance-based specifications into its asphalt mixture design and acceptance program.
Dr. Boz serves as an executive secretary for Virginia DOT’s Pavement Research Advisory Council on Pavement Preservation and Management. He actively serves as a member of the Transportation Research Board Standing Committees on Asphalt Materials Selection and Mix Design (AKM30) and Low-Volume Roads (AKD30). Dr. Boz is the recipient of lifetime fellowship award from the International Road Federation. He is also registered professional engineer in Virginia.
