Dr. Yaobang Gong is a Faculty Assistant in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Transportation from Central South University in China. His research is focused on leveraging artificial intelligence to promote equity, safety, and efficiency in traffic management and operations, including traffic signal control. Dr. Gong’s research has resulted in over 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical reports. His research has received funding from organizations such as the National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Transportation, Utah Department of Transportation, Florida Department of Transportation, among others.
