I am graduated in Computer Engineering in 2005 and received his PhD in Computer Science in 2010, both from the University of Granada, Spain. From June 2010 to November 2014 I was a postdoctoral researcher at the ICT Research Centre of the University of Granada. In 2014 I received an IKERBASQUE Research Fellowship to work at the Mobility Unit of the Deusto Institute of Technology, in Bilbao, Spain. In 2019 I received the IKERBASQUE Research Associate mention and currently coordinates the Artificial Intelligence area at DeustoTech. I have published four books, eighteen JCR articles and more than 20 articles in national and international conferences. I have supervised one PhD thesis and one Master's thesis; and is currently supervising one PhD thesis. I am the scientific leader of an H2020 project (MOMENTUM) and has participated in 3 European H2020 research projects (TIMON, PostLowCIT and LOGISTAR) as well as in 5 national and 4 regional research projects. I am a member of the program committee of international conferences such as IEEE CEC, GECCO, ICCCI, ECAL, HM or NICSO. I have been a reviewer in international journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, Fuzzy Sets and Systems, Information Sciences, NeuroComputing, Optimization Letters and Memetic Computing. My main research interests are: Artificial Intelligence, Intelligent Systems, Soft Computing, Hybrid Metaheuristics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Intelligent Transportation Systems, Logistics Networks, Travel Behavior Analysis and Traffic Prediction.
