Professor Walaa Mogawer, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE is a Commonwealth Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and the Director of the University of Massachusetts Highway Sustainability Research Center. With over 35 years of extensive experience, he has contributed significantly to the field of asphalt pavements, encompassing expertise in pavement materials, design, recycling, preservation, and asset management. Professor Mogawer is a life member of the Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists, a fellow of ASCE, a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committee AKM 10 “Production and Use of Asphalt” and is a registered professional engineer in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. His research endeavors focus on advancing environmental stewardship in pavements through the utilization of recycled materials and innovative technologies. Notable areas of interest include comprehensive balanced mixture design, high-performance thin lift pavements, and pavement management strategies.
