Dr. Gao is an Associate Professor at the University of Houston (UH). Dr. Gao's research has focused on transportation asset management, data science, artificial intelligence, and operations research. Over the past decade, Dr. Gao has led or contributed to more than 20 research projects sponsored by organizations such as the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Federal Highway Administration, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Fluor Corporation, and other funding agencies. Dr. Gao actively engages with professional societies, serving as a member of the Infrastructure Systems Committee and Economics & Finance Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE). He is also a fellow of the International Road Federation (IRF). With over 60 published papers to his credit, Dr. Gao maintains a strong presence in academia and professional circles. Currently, Dr. Gao holds the position of President at the International Association of Chinese Infrastructure Professionals (IACIP) and plays an active role in organizations like ASCE.
