Sarah Kasomi is a Traffic Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at HDR Inc. with extensive experience in transportation engineering and microsimulation analysis. She holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of North Florida and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania. During her time at the University of North Florida, she contributed to the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)-sponsored transportation research project- Guidelines for Activating Ramp Meters During Off-Peak Hours and Weekends for FDOT District 6. Despite her role at HDR Inc., she is a dedicated researcher who focuses on utilizing statistical and machine-learning techniques to improve highway safety and optimize traffic operations. Her expertise includes Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSM&O), micromobility systems, traffic simulation and overall traffic and pedestrian safety management. Beyond her academic and research achievements, she has taken various leadership roles in professional organizations, including the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), Women in Transportation (WTS) and the Association of Highway Engineers (ASHE), which highlight her leadership abilities and commitment to the field of transportation engineering.
