Kurt Keifer, Ph.D., P.E. has three decades of experience in roadway and airfield pavement engineering and civil infrastructure asset management. He began his career with the US Army Corps of Engineers, Construction Engineering Research Laboratory. While there, Dr. Keifer served as the Associate Program Manager for both the PAVER and WHARFER Engineered Management Systems.
He worked side-by-side with Department of Defense stakeholders in developing more optimal pavement and facility management analysis and analysis strategies. Since moving to the private sector, Dr. Keifer has led teams of engineers and technicians, and has successfully delivered roadway and airfield pavement and asset management projects to state, county, local, and private agencies across the United States and around the world.
He specializes in pavement condition evaluations, including automated and semi-automated pavement distress surveys, structural evaluations, pavement profiling, and friction surveys. Dr. Keifer received his Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he currently serves on the department’s Alumni Association Board of Directors.
