Mr. John Timothy Malisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Transportation Engineering with Honours, a Master of Science in Highway Engineering (Thesis) and a PhD candidate in Transportation Engineering, all from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is currently a Senior Pavement/Materials Engineer at the Research and Development Unit of the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), with local and regional experience of more than 15 years in this field as a registered Professional Engineer in Civil Engineering. He has been involved in pavement & materials design, pavement evaluation, long-term pavement monitoring, traffic studies, supervision of road construction projects and carrying out various forensic investigations of pavement failures. He took part in the development of a Manual for Provision of Low Volume Roads in Tanzania and one of the authors of the Interim Guidelines for the Design of Hot-Mix Asphalt for Tanzania. He has also been involved in geotechnical and subsoil Investigations, advanced characterization of asphalt materials, and research on emerging technology in materials/pavement engineering. He is a technical reviewer of National Construction Council (NCC) journal in Tanzania and a reliable reviewer of consultancy reports on areas of pavement, materials and geotechnical for TANROADS. He has assisted to successful completion of various Bachelor Engineering Degree students on research projects.
