Martin is a Civil Engineer with10 years’ experience combining practice and academia. He obtained his BS in Uruguay [Universidad de la República] in 2014, was a junior practitioner between 2015-2017, and pursued graduate education at Virginia Tech between 2017 and 2023 [MSc. 2019, Ph. D. 2022; post-doc researcher between 2022-2023]. His doctoral dissertation research was about using Traffic Speed Deflectometers to structurally evaluate jointed rigid pavements. Currently based in his homeland, he provides pavement design services for a local consultant, supports TSD-related research at Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, and works as Research Scientist with ARRB Systems, Inc., focusing on applied research and applications for their comprehensive Pavement Assessment Vehicle – the iPAVE.
