Dr. Jun Zhao is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS) at the University of Arizona. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Nanjing University, a Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Tongji University, and a Doctorate in Transportation Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Zhao served as a Senior Algorithm Engineer at Alibaba Cloud Computing Company after completing his graduate studies. His research interests encompass travel behavior modeling, traffic simulation, and human-AI interaction experiments.
During his doctoral studies, Dr. Zhao conducted research under the supervision of Professors Lei Zhang and Chenfeng Xiong at the Maryland Transportation Institute within the A. James Clark School of Engineering. His dissertation focused on the effects of monetary and non-monetary incentives on travel behaviors, which contributed to the development of the incenTrip app. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, he played a key role in creating the University of Maryland COVID-19 Impact Analysis Platform by utilizing location-based service (LBS) data.
Dr. Zhao’s contributions to the field of transportation have led to publications in esteemed journals such as Transportation Research Part C and PLOS ONE, as well as presentations at notable conferences, including the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting.
