Min-Wook Kang is a Professor of Civil, Coastal, and Environmental Engineering at the University of South Alabama. He began his academic journey with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Transportation Systems Engineering from Hanyang University in South Korea, followed by an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, in the U.S. Before joining the University of South Alabama in 2012, Dr. Kang gained professional experience as a researcher, instructor, and transportation engineer at national research centers, universities, and consulting firms. This diverse background laid the foundation for his successful academic career. Dr. Kang’s areas of expertise include advanced traffic operations and congestion management, driver behavior and human factors analysis, artificial intelligence in traffic management and infrastructure design, as well as accident analysis and modeling. Dr. Kang has authored over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles, published a book, secured 13 competitive research grants, and mentored 3 Ph.D. and 8 M.Sc. students.
