Sayla Afrose Prova, originally from Bangladesh, is pursuing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler. Her research involves blending experimental work with machine learning techniques to predict pavement performance. As a Graduate Research Assistant, she has worked on projects exploring sustainable solutions, such as improving asphalt binders with recycled materials like discarded face masks.
Sayla has shared her research at several academic events, including the LSUS Regional Student Scholars Forum and the Lyceum Scholarship Showcase. She is also set to present her findings at the 2025 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Conference.
With a passion for learning and practical experience in sustainable infrastructure, Sayla hopes to make a modest but meaningful contribution to the field of transportation engineering.
