Dr. Sun is the co-founder and CEO of AIWaysion. He holds a Ph.D. in transportation engineering and has over a decade of experience in both industry and academia. Dr. Sun’s active research fields include transportation data analytics, AI and traffic sensing, traffic safety, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Dr. Sun is the Principal Investigator (PI) of several successful United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects. Dr. Sun has a proven track record of successfully leading and participating a variety of projects funded by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), USDOT, and Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT), etc. Dr. Sun has published and served as reviewers for the various journals including the Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems: Technology, Planning, and Operations, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Journal of Transportation Engineering, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Smart Cities Conference, and Transportation Research Record (TRR).
