Dr. Islam is a transportation engineering faculty at the University of South Alabama. She has more than
25 years of experience in the area of transportation and traffic engineering. She is well recognized
researcher in the transportation engineering community and has published in high impact journals. Dr.
Islam’s areas of interest are: transportation safety, resilience, application of econometric and statistical
methods to a variety of transportation related problems, hurricane evacuation. Dr. Islam is currently a
member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and serving as a member of the Transportation Education Council executive committee of ITE. Dr. Islam is also a member of the American Society of
Civil Engineers (ASCE), the Transportation Research Board (TRB), and a member of the Standing Committee on Statistical Methods, ABJ80/AED60 (TRB).
