Professor
Federal University of Santa Maria
Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil
PhD in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Geotechnics and Paving, from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Transportation at UFSM, and is dedicated to the study of asphalt materials in the GEPPASV research group. He has solid experience in rheological analysis of asphalts and asphalt mixtures and in the application of the viscoelastic theory of continuum damage to characterize fatigue damage in asphalt materials, in addition to studying the effect of oxidative aging in laboratory plants and the service life of asphalt mixtures in experimental segments implemented and monitored in the field. Concomitantly with these researches, he has developed techniques to investigate the rheological behavior of cohesive soils, and investigates the impact of climate change on the future selection of asphalt binders.
