Michael Andrade serves as the Vice President of Specialized Transit Services for the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO). With a 35-year tenure at METRO, Michael has been instrumental in overseeing specialized transit services, including contract services for the Northwest Bus Operating Facility (fixed-route and park-and-ride service), paratransit customer service, eligibility, and dispatch operations.
Michael also spearheaded METRO's first microtransit operation in 2015, a vital service that enhances connectivity between communities and METRO's fixed routes, rail, and park-and-ride services across the city. These efforts provide critical transportation for seniors, persons with disabilities, and the public, ensuring access to work, healthcare, education, shopping, and places of worship. Under his leadership, METRO currently operates five microtransit zones, with several more in development.
