Dr Hui Li is an assistant research professor in WSU’s Department of Biological System Engineering and Composite Materials and Engineering Center (CMEC). His appointment at WSU is 60% research and 40% extension. Dr. Li’s research has involved in bio-based composite/polymer (application of lignin into value-added polymer and adhesive, chitin and cellulose materials into cementious materials, biocomposites from lignocellulosic and natural fibers), synthetic fiber composite and plastic recycling (wind turbine blade recycling, carbon fiber composite recycling, agricultural mulch film recycling through mechanical and thermal pathways), and mass timber processing and manufacturing. His research has been funded by various government agencies, such as NSF, DOD, DOE, USDA, etc. along with private entities.
