Prashanth Vangla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, where he has been since September 2018. From 2017 to 2018, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Georgia Tech, USA. He was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Warwick, UK. He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering and Master of Technology in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science in 2017 and the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India, in 2011, respectively. From 2008 to 2009, he worked as a site engineer for a dam and tunnel construction project with Gammon India Ltd. He received a B.E. degree in Civil Engineering from Vasavi College of Engineering in 2008. He is a recipient of national and international awards such as IGS-Prof. Leonard's Biennial Award for best Ph.D. Thesis and Best Paper Award at Eighth Asian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference. A dual focus drives his research: contributing to fundamental and practical advancements while anticipating future needs. This focus is reflected in three key thematic areas: Bio-inspired and Bio-mediated Geotechnics, Innovations and Sustainable Alternatives, and Geotechnical Hazards.
