Dr. Mekker specializes in traffic engineering, traffic operations, performance management, transportation equity, and preparing for advancements in transportation technology, such as autonomous vehicles. Michelle is dedicated to creating smarter, safer, and more efficient transportation systems. After earning a BS from the University at Buffalo and both an MS and PhD from Purdue University, Michelle embarked on an academic adventure at Utah State University, where they made significant strides in research and inspired future engineers. However, driven by a desire to apply her expertise more dynamically, she transitioned to the consulting realm, where her talents and interests align more closely. Originally from the snow-covered streets of Syracuse, NY, Michelle now balances a professional life with the joys of family, which includes one child and a growing pack of fur babies. Outside of work, they indulge in creative pursuits, crafting intricate costumes for fan conventions and meticulously building an impressive Lego collection. Whether devising long-range transportation plans or designing her next great cosplay, Dr. Mekker brings precision, creativity, and critical thinking to everything they do.
