Bang-Yi Kao is a Research Assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering at National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan. Using DEM and performance testing, Kao applies some of the latest techniques in design and evaluation methodology for modern pavements. He combines computational modeling with practical testing; thus, his work provides critical insight into material behavior under various loading and environmental conditions. This new approach significantly enhances pavement durability and efficiency, meeting some current issues in sustainable transportation infrastructure. Groundbreaking work by Bang-Yi Kao has laid the foundation for robust, high-performance infrastructure that merges technological innovation with environmental responsibility to meet the changing needs of society.
