Reza Ashtiani (PhD) is the lead faculty member for Geotechnical Sciences in the Civil Engineering department at the United States Air Force Academy. For the last four years, Dr. Ashtiani has spent his time at USAFA mentoring and teaching Cadets in preparation for civil engineering career fields within the Air Force. Some of his specialties include: computational mechanics and constitutive modeling of civil engineering materials (soils, concrete and asphalt), regolith mechanics, performance characterization and numerical simulation of nonlinear, stress sensitive and anisotropic geomaterials, laboratory testing and characterization of engineering materials, accelerated damage repair of rigid and flexible airfield runways using rapid setting agents and airfield surface decontamination methodologies. Outside of being a great mentor for Cadets, Dr. Ashtiani spends his time hiking in the Colorado mountains, playing soccer and watching Texas A&M football.
