Hassan’s present post in the Faculty of Engineering & Technology, School of the Civil Engineering & Built Environment is Professor of Structural Engineering and Head of the Novel and Bio-based Material Technology. Qualified as a Chartered Engineer, Member of the UK Engineering Council, and a Fellow of the following institutions: The Chartered Institution of Highways &Transportation and the British Institution of Non-Destructive Testing. Following some time in private practice, Hassan moved into the education sector and has almost 25 years’ experience in this field. His teaching experience within the Civil Engineering profession has been at higher education level.
Professor Hassan has published two textbooks and more than 180 Journal technical and conference papers. His research interests are in; structural design & evaluations and materials technology. Professor Al Nageim is also the Founder and Chief Editor of the International Journal of Pavement Engineering & Asphalt Technology, established in 2001, ISSN 1464-8164, the Founder and Chairman of the international annual conference on Sustainable Materials, Pavement Engineering and Asphalt Technology, since 2001. He is a keynote speaker for numerous UK and international conference and professionals’ meetings/courses on Advanced Materials Technology. He is also, holder of major successful industrial research projects funded by national and international industrial sectors, including UK and Qatar governments with a total funding of more than 8 million pound sterling. He is also a holder of three New Patented Technologies. Professor Al Nageim also supervised more than 16 successful UK PhD students as a Director of Studies in the UK, and External Examiners for more than 35 successful UK PhD students from the University of: Nottingham, Portsmouth, Coventry, Liverpool, Salford, and Ulster of the UK and other international universities.
Professor Al Nageim has also extensive experience in management/ development of undergraduate courses in; engineering, building maintenance management and building surveying at Liverpool John Moores University, UK, and external examiner to the undergraduate course of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering/ Southwest Regional College/ University of Ulster, UK.
Professors Al Nageim also playing major roles as a member of the strategic planning educational committees for two Engineering and Materials Institutions in the UK. He is also a Visiting Professor for University of Warith Al Anbiyaa and Babylon in Iraq and University of Yantai in China.
