Dr. S. Shankar is the Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Transportation Division, National Institute of Technology Warangal. He earned his B.E degree from Vasavi College of Engineering Affiliated with Osmania University, Hyderabad, in 2003 and Obtained his M. Tech (Transportation) and PhD from the National Institute of Technology Warangal in 2006 and 2012, respectively. Dr. Shankar works in Low Volume Roads (Planning, Design, Construction and maintenance), Pavement Management Systems, Pavement Material Characterization, and Marginal and Innovative Materials. Some areas where he has contributed significantly include using Coir Geotextiles and Waste materials like reclaimed asphalt pavement and recycled concrete aggregates in pavement construction. Dr. S. Shankar has various national and international repute publications (20 Journal Publications, 50+ Conference Publications), and he is the reviewer of the International Journal of Civil Engineering, International Journal of Pavement Engineering and Jordan Journal of Civil Engineering. He completed 05 Research projects and is currently on going 03 projects worth 70 lakhs sanctioned by DST and Ministry f Rural Development and 01 International Project. Hu guided 03 PhD, and 7 are ongoing. He guided 52 M. Tech dissertations.
Dr. S. Shankar has held various administrative positions at NIT Warangal, including Deputy Chief Warden (NITW Hostels), Faculty In charge of the Transportation Laboratory, and Member of the Anti-ragging Committee. He is a member of various committees such as the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, AICTE Expert Visit Committee, Member of the State Technical agency and Principal Technical Agency for the PMGSY program under the Ministry of Rural Development Government of India. Dr. Shankar has been a Life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education, a Life Member of the Indian Road Congress, a Life Member of the Indian Geotechnical Society and a Life member of the International Society for Concrete pavements.
