Burak Enis Korkmaz was born on July 4, 1992, in Kırşehir, Turkey. He is a research assistant in the Department of Civil Engineering at Afyon Kocatepe University, where he has been serving since 2018. His academic focus is on transportation engineering, with a particular interest in innovative asphalt technologies.
Mr. Korkmaz holds a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Selçuk University (2016), a Master's degree in Civil Engineering from Afyon Kocatepe University (2021), and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the same field at the same university. His master’s thesis explored the application of carbon fiber-reinforced conductive asphalt concrete in intelligent anti-icing systems, supervised by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cahit Gürer and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Uğur Fidan.
He has actively contributed to multiple research projects, including studies on modified bitumen, the performance of conductive asphalt, and the use of recycled materials in pavement structures. His work has earned recognition through several awards, such as the Academic Award at the SummITS’22 3rd International Intelligent Transportation Systems Summit, a second prize in the "Young Generations Compete" project competition, and a publication award from the Turkish National Committee on Roads.
Mr. Korkmaz has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, with key contributions to the understanding of conductive asphalt properties, anti-icing technologies, and sustainable pavement materials. His international collaborations and participation in professional organizations highlight his dedication to advancing the field of civil engineering.
