Dr. Zhe Han is a Research Engineer in Center for Transportation Research (CTR) at The University of Texas at Austin and a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas. His research focuses on large-scale infrastructure system management, optimal resource allocation, resilience analysis, asset valuation, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary research.
Dr. Han earned two Bachelor degrees in civil engineering and law from Tsinghua University. He joined the civil engineering program at The University of Texas at Austin, where he received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, respectively. Dr. Han is the recipient of Walter L. and Reta Mae Moore Graduate Fellowship and Robert Herman Endowed Scholarship from the University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Han received the Best Researcher Award from the International Research Awards on Civil and Environmental Engineering. He received ASCE 2023 Matthew G. Karlaftis Best Paper Award, the Best Paper Award at the 103rd Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual meeting in 2024 (AMR20 Committee), the 4th World Transport Convention (WTC) in 2021, and at the 9th International Conference on Managing Pavement Assets (ICMPA) in 2015.
Dr. Zhe Han is an author or co-author of more than technical papers, reports, and articles as well as 2 books. He has delivered more than 48 oral presentations nationally and internationally. He is the Section Editor-in-Chief of Current Social Sciences, the Editorial Board Member of International Journal of Transportation Engineering and Technology and Transportation Management, and the Guest Editor of Computation. Dr. Han serves as the chair of JC01 joint technical committee of World Transport Convention (WTC). Dr. Han is the Chair of ASCE T&DI Infrastructure System Committee, and he is also a current member of the Economics & Finance Committee.
