Abstract: Climate resilience will continue to be a priority for cities and communities across the U.S. as efforts continue to help residents adapt to increasingly severe weather events, like extreme heat, which impacted nearly every American over the past summer. Adapting road maintenance to support those efforts has historically been a costly challenge leading teams to believe they have to choose between performance OR the environment. However, new innovations entering the market are eliminating this false choice and providing a blueprint for a modern, data-driven approach to road maintenance that turns streets into climate solutions.
This session will dive into the new technologies emerging and demonstrate how they help reduce variability while improving performance. It will also cover efforts to bring automation, data and AI into pavement maintenance to create a more integrated and efficient approach.
It’s time to bust a decades-old industry status quo and rethink pavement maintenance so our roads become part of the solution and contribute to building safer, healthier, and more sustainable communities.
Join the discussion and hear from product innovators, specifiers, researchers, and maintenance managers about why this is a game-changing moment for road maintenance, the projects leading the way, and what the future could hold.
Learning Objectives:
Attendees can expect to learn the following from this session:
Upon completion, participant will be able to identify challenges that are preventing sustainability from being integrated into road maintenance.
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe how new technologies are helping to integrate assessment, planning, treatment, and monitoring to promote resilience without compromising performance.
Upon completion, participant will be able to explain how other cities are adapting new approaches to pavement maintenance.
