EV Charging Infrastructure Optimization: Overcoming Scalability and Grid Management Challenges

Abstract: The rapid expansion of electric vehicles (EVs) has placed significant pressure on existing charging infrastructure, presenting new challenges for scalability, grid management, and efficient resource distribution. Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers promising solutions to optimize the deployment, operation, and management of EV charging infrastructure, ensuring grid stability and meeting growing demand. However, several barriers and challenges hinder the full integration of AI into EV charging networks. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the application of AI in EV charging infrastructure optimization, focusing on the key challenges related to scalability, grid management, and energy distribution. The paper explores AI's role in predictive analytics for energy demand forecasting, dynamic pricing models, and real-time load balancing, all of which are critical to ensuring the efficiency and reliability of EV charging networks. Additionally, it examines the barriers to widespread AI adoption, including the lack of standardized data formats, integration issues with legacy systems, cybersecurity risks, and the need for robust algorithms that can handle complex, large-scale energy networks. Another key focus of the paper is the challenge of scaling AI-driven EV charging infrastructure, which requires careful planning and collaboration between energy providers, regulators, and technology developers.
