Josh Sperling leads and supports multidisciplinary research focusing on how to help underserved and urban communities via equitable access to and use of emerging technologies, sustainable-resilient infrastructure services, and public health / community-led innovations. He supports and cultivates community at NREL around various urban, behavioral, decision science thrusts, engaging in technology-policy-planning-behavioral-finance analysis, and early career mentoring at NREL and beyond. He has also co-led programs, partnerships, projects and diversity-equity-inclusion-accessibility research design with support from U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, State Department, USAID, Net Zero World, and Engineering for Change consortia.
